About Dr. Jon Koeltl

Dr. Jon M. Koeltl has been creating beautiful smiles for 25 years! He was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and was raised in California, Texas, and New Jersey. He attended the University of California at Davis for his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. After graduating from UC Davis, he attended the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Upon graduating from dental school in 2000, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, also at UOP.

Dr. Koeltl has completed extensive dental continuing education at both the Pankey Institute and the Spear Institute, as well as participating in the Partnership Study Club for 15 years. He is well-versed in complex restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and is very passionate about airway-based dentistry. He believes constant learning is critical to provide the finest quality of care.

The Pankey Institute is a nationally renowned postgraduate program focused on comprehensive rehabilitation and Temporomandibular joint management. At the Spear Institute, Dr. Koeltl completed the Airway Prosthodontics continuum that considers the health of the airway in all dental rehabilitation. The Partnership Study Club is a collaborative club of 50-plus dentists and dental specialists focused on continued learning in all facets of clinical dentistry, with a specific focus on dental implants. Additionally, Dr. Koeltl is a member of the Team Airway Study Club with sleep specialists, ENT physicians, orthodontists, speech therapists and other airway specialists.

In 2025, Dr. Koeltl began the journey of integrating the Fotona laser into the dental practice. The laser opened the door to dramatically improved periodontal results, improved esthetic outcomes via gum contouring, and TMJ management for patients in pain. Most uniquely, the Fotona laser is used in Nightlase treatment to open a patient’s throat and airway to improve breathing and lessen the dangers of sleep apnea and sleep-disordered breathing.

Dr. Koeltl is passionate about dentistry and building relationships with his patients. He is known for his warm and caring nature. His gentle care puts patients at ease, particularly those who have dental fear. Dr. Koeltl knows it is important for his patients to feel that their concerns are listened to and takes the time to explain procedures and answer questions.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, skiing, and staying active through regular exercise. Dr. Koeltl has two young adult children and has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 25 years.
